Influenced by the classic Joy of Cooking, this project’s purpose was to design a unique take on a modern cookbook. I chose to focus on the traditional Mediterranean diet and included recipes within this theme. The book includes sourced images that bring out the vibrant color and texture of the food. The overall design serves to educate the viewer on Mediterranean diet through a colorful and easy to use layout. All information was researched and sourced from several credible dietitians.
As the next step in the Oil & Grains project, I turned the book design into an iPhone app. The app uses the same stylistic choices and design tactics as the book version. Some users may prefer the digital platform. The goal of this project was to provide that alternative while maintaining the user’s experience.
