107th Annual OU
School of Visual Arts
Student Exhibition

The Annual OU School of Visual Arts Student Exhibition is hosted by the Fred Jones Jr. Museum. This competitive show highlights the diverse works of the visual arts students. The Visual Communication program's contribution is creating that year's exhibition identity, published in the gallery and all marketing for the showcase. The final mark needed to be adaptable for various printed deliverables, exhibit design, animations, and online platforms.

The identity shown was the result of a collaboration between two other designers– Anna Brooks and Claire Johnson– and myself. When beginning to design our mark, we wanted to keep flexibility at the forefront of our process. By creating an eye-catching mark with multiple meanings, we hoped to engage a wide variety of audiences, gaining attention from students across campus. The use of a clean, modern mark provided the potential for multiple color palettes, digital experimentation while keeping the focus on the student work being shown. We paired both thin and bold type to represent unity, collaboration, and diversity. The idea of using both alpha and numeric characters play off the notion that art can be seen from multiple perspectives.
